If you’ve ever wondered what sets apart those captivating, emotion filled, jaw dropping shots from the rest, let me tell you: it’s all about the power of a well-styled outfit! Whether you’re planning a personal photoshoot, a family gathering, or capturing the love between a couple, outfit styling plays a key role in elevating your images! In this blog, I’ll give you my top photo styling tips for putting together your dream outfit for your photoshoot that will enhance connection and emotion.
The outfits you choose to wear when capturing those beautiful freeze-frame moments should always reflect your style as a family— however, certain colors, textures, and styles can play a huge part in the way your photos turn out on camera! It’s my job to help your family look the absolute BEST for your session! these colors are what go best with my editing style! have you seen my social media and want your session to look like my images? styling plays a huge role in what captures that emotion!
Sticking with neutral tone pallets is what will go best with my editing style! Here are some additional color pallets that go really well together!
If you are unsure what to wear, it’s always best to go for something simple that you feel confident in! Think “no distractions” for your images. Avoid super colorful options that could clash with my editing style or the location of your photoshoot. If you want to go for a pattern, make sure it’s something simple and with neutral tones. If you are having a family photoshoot with young children, you can mix patterns here! Think small floral prints, pin stripes or checkered for example.
Accessories can make or break your photos! For mom’s and daughters, I always suggest layering with neutral color cardigans for a cozy vibe. For dad’s and sons, I always love when they do cardigans as well with a beanie! Another way to amp up your photos that go well with my editing style is to wear tights or high socks! I also LOVE when my clients wear some sort of bohemian style cowboy hat. If you’re not into hats, a gorgeous head scarf can be the way to go!
One of my favorite photo styling tips is hair inspiration! I love the loose beachy waves with some braids or twists. You can even go the extra mile by adding some flowers into your curls! Having a playful hairstyle for your photoshoot will add such a gorgeous element to your photos!
Remember, I offer a client closet with unique & luxury pieces for photos that you have FREE ACCESS to, and we can schedule an appointment for you to come try things on! But, if you are looking to style yourself, PLEASE send me pictures before buying! Coloring is so important when editing!
